Tsarist Russia
In the 20th century in the Russian Empire, newspapers were the only means of mass information. Therefore, the main advertising burden fell on them. The largest socio-political publications were overloaded with advertising. Advertising in them occupied half of the printed volume. At the same time, the front page was devoted to advertising. Cosmetic and medicinal preparations occupied the first places in advertising. Great competition in the market and advertising in newspapers encouraged its creators to fantasize in advance.

Times of the Soviet Union
Most of the advertising materials in Soviet times were political advertising or propaganda, but there was also advertising of services and goods. Moreover, in quite large volumes.
