Rebranding and website development for B2B industrial design studio KLONA

Who's the client?

KLONA Studio is a recognized leader in Ukraine in the field of industrial design, mold making and small batch production. Large and small businesses order turnkey projects here: the studio has all the resources to develop products from scratch. A customer can come here with an abstract idea and leave a few weeks later with a finished product.
The KOLORO team was tasked with creating a website for the KLONA industrial design studio that would match the company’s leadership position.

We also designed the logo and character for KLONA. You can check out this portfolio at the link

Market research

Before taking on the task of creating a website for a design studio, we studied its target audience. Obviously, the main group of visitors to a corporate resource are customers. They visit the site for a specific purpose – to learn about the terms of cooperation or to order a service, whether it is 3D modeling or mold making.
In the course of the study, we identified another target group: geeks. They are men between 25 and 35 years old who are interested in modern technology. It is for them that the Blog section of the website has been created.

Strategy building

One of the geek’s main hobbies is video games. This thought was the starting point for the creation of a signature character. Marketers studied several dozen game universes and settled on Fallout. A mascot character named Vault-Boy from the popular game series became a reference for the development of a branded character – the KLONA lamb.

Legend, values and mission of Promdesign Studio

According to the plan, the rebranding of the industrial design studio’s website should reflect the company’s values and mission. Values are brought to the home page of the site and are based on providing quality service:

  • Prompt (responding to a client’s question within four hours);
  • confidential;
  • professional (coordinated work of marketers, designers and modelers);
  • innovative (each project is unique and has no analogues in the country).

The company’s mission is to become a robotics leader in Ukraine and beyond.

Semantic kernel compilation

Rebranding of the site was not limited to updating the design and structure, we were also engaged in filling the pages. To begin with, the SEO specialist made a semantic kernel. This is an important step, as it directly affects the site’s position in the rendition. Now KLONA.UA is in the top ten on the request “industrial design” in Google and Yandex.

Character rendering

KLONA lamb is an active and active character. For the pages of the site, the artists created illustrations on which the lamb gets into different situations. For example, in one image he is fixing a robot and in another image he is running away from a scary shadow.

Why did we choose lamb? The name of the promdesign studio evokes associations with cloning. Who is the most famous cloned animal? It’s Dolly the sheep, no doubt. That’s how the idea of “dressing up” a funny lamb in a Walt-Boy costume from Fallout came about.

Corporate website development: prototyping

When creating a complex multi-page website, you can’t do without a prototype. This stage allows you to speed up the development process, avoid mistakes and numerous revisions at the initial stages of work. We created a highly detailed prototype using Axure Pro software.

Transfer of corporate identity to the prototype

The brand identity and prototype were approved, so the transfer didn’t take long. After correcting minor inaccuracies that occurred during the migration, the site was ready. The lamb was waiting for visitors at KLONA.UA on the screens of computers, tablets and smartphones.

Drawing pages and forms on the site

Drawing the 150 pages and forms took a lot of time and effort on the part of the designers. The goal was to create a user-friendly, useful and beautiful website – and what else could a leading industrial design studio have? The neat block layout looks good on any device thanks to the clever adaptive design.

Back-end on Laravel framework

The server side of the site is developed on the Laravel framework. We chose this platform because of its functionality and scalability. Also on the basis of Laravel it is possible to develop a flexible admin panel. In addition, the framework is updated on a regular basis.

Transferring a new website to a domain

The next step was to move the finished site from the test domain to the main domain. There were some difficulties during the migration process, but the programmers promptly fixed the bugs. After the final edits, the site became available to the audience.

How is the site populated?

Website development for the design studio didn’t end even after it was migrated to the main domain. We’ve made comprehensive recommendations for page content.
The “Services”, “Portfolio” and “Blog” sections should be regularly filled with SEO-optimized texts and original visual content. In addition, the usefulness of the materials cannot be overlooked. They should be of interest to potential customers as well as geeks who read them for fun. These simple rules will ensure good traffic and high ranking of the site in search engines.

Some statistics

Thanks to regular filling with useful materials and expansion of the list of services, the website traffic is growing every month – as evidenced by the indicators in Google Analytics and Yandex.Metrics services. Accordingly, the Promdesign studio receives more orders.
Thus, ordering the development of a corporate website is necessary for those who wish to effectively develop and promote their business. You can order this service in the branding agency KOLORO.
